Good vibrations...not!
Yes, you are right, it has been a while.
My bad.
There has been a bit going on.
I’m writing this at 30,000 feet (or something like that…I really don’t have any idea) while on my way to Brisbane to meet Elsie for the first time. For those of you that missed it, Elsie is my newest granddaughter. Now almost 6 months old. It’s a bit exciting. I’m equally excited to get reacquainted with the older grandkids and their parents.

I won’t be posting until after I get home so I can add pictures.
On the local front, we have been living in a demolition/construction zone for the past 3 months…not ideal.

A retaining wall directly opposite our house was failing. It needed to be removed and replaced and was a pretty major exercise. At one point we had a hole about 5 metres deep! The road was completely closed the whole time meaning that access to our house was quite problematic. We are very happy the project is now complete and all the machinery has gone…along with the noise.
Although, it did prove very popular with young Angus…heaven for a little boy who loves diggers..
We didn’t entirely escape unscathed. The vibrations the house endured has resulted in some cracking to the plaster. Her 70 year old bones could only take so much rattling. We are currently negotiating to get repairs done.
The video is a Timelapse I put together. Unfortunately, I missed the early stages but the drone shots should give you an idea of what went on. The clip of the rock breaker (sound on) will give you an idea of how much fun we had.
The other thing that has been occupying my time is my shed. Or more accurately, what I’ve been working on in the shed.
I have made a jewellery box as a gift for Jamyson…it’s in my case so hopefully it will be in one piece when I arrive.

I also (in my madness) I decided to try and make a working camera. And because I am totally nuts, I decided to make it a bit out of the ordinary. It’s a panoramic camera. It uses roll film and produces a negative 6x17cm! So only 4 shots per roll.
Having said that, at this point it remains untested.
I will keep you posted.
…well, that didn’t go as planned.
My idea was to get the majority of this (blog) knocked over and I would update and add pics as soon as I got home. Best laid plans and all that…I picked up a virus (most likely on the plane) and it knocked me for six (despite being fully up to date with my vaccinations). It caused me to have to cancel a shoot that had been booked for months…and no sick leave for the self-employed.
It is now 2 weeks since I got back and I’m just now feeling human enough to have a crack at it.
The Brisbane visit was just what I needed to restock the ‘feels’ deep inside my heart. It is very restorative to embed into the home of your grandkids. You get to ‘live’ their lives…even if it’s just for a short time, it is way better than a ‘drop in’ visit.
My brother-in-law was marking a birthday while I was there, so I deliberately held off on posting anything on the socials so I could give him a surprise…it worked :) We had a lovely lunch and did a bit of catching up.
On a more sobering note, my nephew has been diagnosed with stage 3 melanoma. His initial treatment hasn’t gone as well as hoped. It looks like he has a big challenge ahead of him, but I know he will give it his best shot. I’m not a praying person, but it would be great if you all could send your positive thoughts his way.
Right. Time to get some imagery together and get this thing posted.
Catch ya next time.
Cheers.
