This blog is going to be a mix of what I'm up to now, a look back at some of my past favourites, maybe some equipment and technical stuff and whatever else you would like to see...but primarily with a photographic theme.

Dust to dust

Hi all…what’s been happening?

One of the things I love about what I do is the variety and the challenges each shoot presents. Most of the time the challenges are just what you do as a photographer to make the shot (so to a lot of you these things will be obvious) but occasionally there are little surprises.

Ok…there is nothing that technically difficult about this shot. The difficulty is the environment. Digital cameras are precision pieces of technology…in general they don’t like water, dust etc.  so shooting inside an active blasting booth is not something that would be recommended (also not recommended for your general health without all the appropriate safety gear).

The technique was pretty simple…get everything dialed in before blasting started…fire off a few frames REALLY quickly and then dive out the door before the whole room filled with super fine particles.
