Guilty as charged.

I'm a photographer and I wish I had more photos of my Dad.

Dad died just over 12 months ago...cancer got him.

For the last 34 years I have worked primarily as a newspaper photographer...photography has been my life. But in a weird kind of way it has been the antithesis of what it should have been.

At almost every family gathering I can remember my attitude being, "I am off duty. I'm not taking photos." Now my Dad has gone...and I can't go back.

It's weird...we have virtually no "formal" photos of our family and we have had a photographer as part of it for forever. There is something not quite right here. Maybe it's like the the plumber with the dripping tap at home?

 Things have changed a bit since I have switched to being freelance...new additions to the family have also prompted more pics.

There is a lesson to be learned here. Not "seeing" something close to home has meant I have missed something very important. Don't take things for granted. Don't leave it until it's too late.
