GWP blogspot

This blog is going to be a mix of what I'm up to now, a look back at some of my past favourites, maybe some equipment and technical stuff and whatever else you would like to see...but primarily with a photographic theme.

Build it and they will

Hi All. Welcome back.

It’s roughly a month since we spoke last (feels like it has only been a week) and …touch wood…I have managed to avoid getting Covid. But, unfortunately it still seems to be affecting business. There is very little I can do about it except keep ticking along and hope that things improve.

In the meantime I have been busy with things totally unrelated to photography. I have had my builder’s hat on…helping my stepson to construct a pergola. It has been nice to wrap my head around designing, ordering materials and then doing the physical stuff. The old body has protested but we are winning.

I will keep you updated as things progress.

One of the shoots I have done recently involved me getting the drone out. I tend to only fly when I have a specific reason to do so. I think it is something that I should probably work on changing…it can be quite enjoyable seeing the world from a different perspective.

For those that know where to look, you can see my studio in this shot :)

Last night I attended the official opening of the touring exhibition of the National Photographic Portrait Prize. If you get the chance, go and check it out. It is being held in Burnie’s new exhibition space, ‘Intersection’…in what was once the Dick Smith electronics store. With the Burnie Regional Art Gallery currently in ‘recess’ it is great to have a space available to showcase the talents of artists from around the country.

Well done to all involved in getting it up and running.

On a more sombre note…I wish to send all my love and support to the people of Ukraine. How a megalomaniac like Putin can get away with something like this in this day and age is totally beyond me!

My thoughts are also with those having to deal with the flooding in Qld and NSW.

Stay safe people.

Cheers
